I submitted a damage report some time ago and as expected £1,000 has been invoiced and taken. The car has now been repaired and returned - how do I a) find out the repair cost to see if I am due a refund b ) get paperwork to enable me to claim all or part of the £1,000 excess I have incurred

I’m sorry to hear of the delays you’ve faced regarding the excess here. I raised this internally yesterday, and I can see that the team have since acted on the first of your points.
I have asked them what we can do in regards to the second question as I’m unsure myself. I’ve requested the feedback for tomorrow, and a CS representative will be in contact shortly after to inform you.
